According to WHO, diabetes mellitus is a chronic/metabolic disease that results when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin (i.e. a defect in its secretion) or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces (i.e. a defect in its action) or both — leading to hyperglycemia — a condition, wherein an increased concentration of glucose in the blood is observed. The World Health Organization (WHO) developed a tagline “Stay Super! Beat Diabetes” to commemorate “World Health Day” on 7 April 2016. The campaign drew attention to the the world-wide growth in diabetes and related complications, educating people about this chronic disease by designing various posters for use worldwide.
