KOCHI, INDIA - Dr. Muhammed Majeed, founder, President and CEO of the Sabinsa Corporation, Piscataway, New Jersey, announced that the company's research and manufacturing branch in India has received national recognition from the Indian government for the company's pioneering role in developing the garcinia market. The unit was applauded for developing the export market for garcinia which is sold by Sabinsa to product manufacturers under the trade name Citrin® , the only garcinia clinically tested in the U.S. and Europe.

The award, given by the Spices Board of India, was presented by India's Commerce Secretary Tejendra Khanna "for outstanding performance for development and export of new products - garcinia cambogia."

In 1995 the company also received the President's Award for Quality and Innovation from Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, President of India.
