Press Release 2010

Dr. Muhammed Majeed, founder of Sabinsa Corporation, was recently honored by Long Island University’s Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences with its Daniel Stateman Distinguished Alumni Award.

Dr. Majeed earned his Masters Degree in Industrial Pharmacy in 1980 at the 125-year-old college, located in Brooklyn, New York. It is one of the oldest and largest schools of its kind in the country, having educated more than 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students, many of whom have attained prominence in pharmacy and the other health professions. During the annual graduation commencement, the College honors alumni who have gone on to significant careers and achievements.

"I was honored to be recognized with this prestigious award by the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences," Dr. Majeed said. "It caused me to reflect upon what my goals were then, and recognize how fortunate I have been to see my dream of making a significant impact of people’s heath become real."

Dr. Majeed immigrated to the United States in 1975 after graduating from Kerala University in India with a BS in Pharmacy. He continued his graduate studies at Long Island University before earning his PhD at St. John’s University, New York, specializing in Industrial Pharmacy. The company has created and marketed more than 100 products for human nutrition and well being, and over the course of 20 years, has evolved into a global corporation with operations on five continents.

Today, Sami is a Research, Development and Manufacturing group in the areas of Standardized Herbal Extracts, Cosmeceuticals, Probiotics, Spice Extracts, Minerals, Fine Chemicals, Phytochemicals and Specialized drug intermediates used in the nutritional, pharmaceutical and food industries.
